Poetry

Although I have not sent out my poetry in four years as I worked on the novel, I have publishing credits in poetry, and my start as a poet is still a strong element of my identity as a writer. When asked by a man I met at the Sufi House in Boston, "Who are you and why are you here?" I said, "I'm a poet from Wisconsin." Both elements are deeply rooted in how and why I set out to become a writer in the first place.
